Uttarakhand is isolated from Uttar Pradesh on 9 November 2000 as the 27th territory of India. That time it was known as Uttaranchal. The flanking conditions of Uttarakhand are Tibet, Nepal, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. The significance of Uttarakhand has been extricated from the Sanskrit vernacular which signifies 'northern city'. In 2007, authoritatively, it was renamed to Uttarakhand from Uttaranchal.
